SCO Mobile HipCheck Server now available as customer deployable version

The SCO Group has introduced the SCO Mobile Server to resolve the unique challenges of developing and deploying secure mobile applications. The SCO Mobile Server allows for customers and partners to develop and deploy their own mobile business application. In addition we now have released a complete SCO Mobile based solution  - HipCheck™, for monitoring and managing Windows and UNIX servers from a mobile phone.

The SCO Mobile HipCheck Server provides a customer-deployable version of SCO’s HipCheck Service, which has been available as an on-line service at http://www.hipcheck.sco.com.

SCO Mobile HipCheck Server - main purpose
HipCheck™ lets you use your Windows Mobile®, Blackberry®, Treo® or other popular smartphone to monitor your Windows®, Solaris® and SCO UNIX® systems, set triggers for real-time event alerts, and then immediately respond to those alerts by viewing critical parameters and executing system commands.

Proactive and preventative system management in real-time lets you:
- Know when something has gone wrong or is about to go wrong
- Respond immediately from any location via your mobile phone
- Keep your users more satisfied than ever
- Lower your system administration costs

Following is a sample of actions supported by HipCheck:
- SMS or email Alert when a system goes down or is unreachable
- Reboot a system
- Alert when a filesystem free space falls below a threshold
- Reset passwords, lock or unlock accounts
- Cancel a print job
- Alert when a log file on a system gets a new entry that matches a pattern

Licensing and Model Numbers
The SCO Mobile HipCheck Server is licensed for a fixed number of users, and to monitor a fixed number of servers. The limit is controlled by a license key that is entered into the HipCheck Server. Each server requires a base license, and can have any number of users or servers added with optional additional licenses. User licenses means additional mobile devices (phones) used for monitoring servers with HipCheck.
The HipCheck Server License is perpetual and includes the first year of software maintenance.

Below are the sample model numbers for the Media Kit, the Base License, additional User and Server licenses and a sample Maintenance License. Additional modelnumbers are available for additional User and Server licenses.
