Elimination of CPU licenses for OpenServer 6 and UnixWare 7.1.4

Effectively from 01.02.2008 there is no need to purchase licenses for additional CPUs on OpenServer 6 and UnixWare 7.1.4 any more.

SCO OpenServer 6 or UnixWare 7.1.4 customers can now use as many CPUs as the OS supports - without the need to license any additional CPUs. There is a free supplement available for download for both OpenServer 6 and UnixWare 7.1.4 that needs to be installed in order to change the licensing behavior.
These processor licensing updates for OpenServer 6.0.0 and UnixWare 7.1.4
are now live on the Web Download and FTP sites.
ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver6/600/patches/oss708a/VOL.000.000 (OpenServer 6)
ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/unixware7/714/patches/ptf9054a/ptf9054.image (UnixWare 7.1.4)
From the OSS708A (OpenServer 6) Readme File:
"OSS708A eliminates the need for additional CPU and CPU Trade-In Licenses for OpenServer 6 by enabling as many CPUs as the OS supports regardless of what processor licenses have been applied. Currently, the OS will support up to 32 logical CPUs, i.e., 32 single, 16 dual, or 8 quad core."
Example:
If you use OpenServer 6 Enterprise, you already have 4 physical CPUs licensed with the product. If these CPUs are all quad core CPUs, then you already can use 16 logical CPUs. If you now install 2 or 4 more physical CPUs, in the past you would need to purchase additional SMP licenses for OpenServer 6. Now, if you have installed OSS708A, you can add more physical CPUs and use them, without purchasing additional CPU licenses.

Solutions - SugarCRM on OpenServer 6

Recently we got requests from SCO partners about whether SugarCRM Version 5 runs on OpenServer 6.
We have done a quick test of Version 5 of SugarCRM and found it running without a problem on OpenServer 6.
Please note that SCO is not providing any support for this type of known to work solutions.
Also, SugarCRM is not supported on SCO OpenServer 6 from SugarCRM.com.
For a description of SugarCRM please check out the SugarCRM website (sugarcrm.com)

We used the following steps to get the Community Edition up and running:
- Download
Sugar Community Edition 5.0.0a (11.81 MB ZIP)
from http://sugarcrm.com
- Unzip archive and move directory to docroot (normally /usr/lib/apache/htdocs/). Name it SugarCRM
- chmod –r 0766 /usr/lib/apache/htdocs/SugarCRM
- Change /usr/lib/php/php.ini

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
    upload_max_filesize = 20M

- Restart /etc/rc2.d/P90apache stop | start
- Install and configure MySQL5.x (see SCO TA database article 126347 on how to install MySQL5 on OpenServer 6)

- Connect through a browser to http://<OSR6>/SugarCRM
