(presentation,new Features , Late News) Please note the new Small Business Edition (SBE) and the new defaults for includesd user and processor licenses! e.g: the 7.1.4 Business Edition is now licensed for up to 4 processors compared to only one in UnixWare 7.1.3 - and for the same price ! More and more hardware will be certified for UnixWare 7.1.4 by hardware vendors. If you look at our hardware compatibily list please also use UnixWare 7.1.3 as a base for UnixWare 7.1.4. This allows UnixWare to run on multiprocessor (MP) systems that do not have Intel Multi-Processor Specification (MPS) BIOS tables. Uniprocessor Hyperthreading Support =================================== Hyperthreading (Jackson Technology) support for UnixWare on Intel processors has been enhanced to work on uniprocessor (UP) systems. Enhanced PCI Serial Support =========================== The standard asy and asyc drivers are now configured by default to support up to ten total serial ports. The drivers now support 16654 UARTS on the motherboard as well as the Digi ClassicBoard and Connect Tech Blue Heat PCI cards. CdrTools ======== An upgrade of Cdrtools to version 2.01a27 including support for DVD reading and writing. Furthermore it adds multi session support. Enhanced Emergency recovery support =================================== Emergency recovery support for IDE, USB, and SCSI writable CD drives which allows creation of an emergency boot CD as an alternative to boot floppies plus the option to write the UnixWare master boot record (MBR) to the hard disk during recovering. USB Printing Enhancements ========================= Suport for multiple USB printers. The gimpprint package contains a suite of high-quality printer drivers for use with the cups and foomatic packages. The foomatic package contains a generic printer filter and PostScript Printer Definition (PPD) files for printers that understand printer languages other than PostScript (such as PCL). This enables printing of PostScript files to these printers, by translating the PostScript file to the language understood by the printer. The filter and PPD files are integrated with the cups package (see CUPS), and cannot be used with the System V LP print system. Note that the CUPS package also provides its own PPD files. Mozilla 1.2.1a ============== The Mozilla web browser has been updated to version 1.2.1a to fix known security vulnerabilities in previous versions. Samba 3.0.0 =========== A native version of Samba 3.0.0 is includesd. SCOx Web Services Infrastructure Support ======================================== The optionally installable SCOx Web Services Infrastructure components have been incorporated into UnixWare 7.1.4. Intended for application developers, they contain SOAP and XML based web services libraries and tools for developing new webservices applications using C, C++, Java, Perl and PHP. Updated Merge Release ===================== An updated maintenance release of NetTraverse Merge", Release 5.3.26c has been added. This is a no charge update for licensees of Merge 5.3. Merge 5.3 supports the execution of Windows as a guest OS allowing Windows applications to run exactly as native. It supports Windows Me and Windows 98 and includes other significant enhancements to earlier versions of Merge. ReliantHA ========= ReliantHA has been upgraded to Release 1.1.4. This version is designed for both new installations and for updating current ReliantHA 1.1.1 through 1.1.3 installations. Release 1.1.4 incorporates maintenance and enhancements providing better GAB halt diagnostics, support for single heartbeat system startup and includes sample detectors for Oracle 9i running under LKP, Apache and Progress. Customers may upgrade from prior releases to ReliantHA 1.1.4 for no charge. OpenServer Kernel Personality (OKP) =================================== The OpenServer Kernel Personality (OKP) add-on for UnixWare 7.1.4 has been updated to includes maintenance fixes and continues to support the installation of a full OpenServer application environment on UnixWare including emulation support for most XENIX applications in use with OpenServer today. With OKP installed, OpenServer applications will run on UnixWare 7.1.4 without modification.
