Maintenance Pack 3 for OpenServer 6 - details

 SCO OpenServer™ Release 6.0.0 Maintenance Pack 3 (MP3), as announced earlier, is now available free of charge at the SCO support Download Page. The Maintenance Pack consists of 2 CD images, Release Notes are available here. (html / txt)
As stated in the Release Notes, you should do a full system backup on your system before applying this maintenance pack.

Customers are advised to read the installation instructions first since MP3 is not removable.

OpenServer 6 Media Kits will be updated with copies of the Maintenance Pack 3 CDs. Availability of the new CDs in Media Kits is expected by mid November.

Maintenance Pack 3 is cumulative with Maintenance Packs 1 and 2 and supersedes them. It is compatible with the prior packs, and may be installed without their removal.

SCO OpenServer Release 6.0.0 Maintenance Pack 3 Device Drivers Supplement

This Supplement contains updated devices drivers (HBA and Network drivers) for OpenServer 6. The CD image and a README file is available online.
This CD provides the same OpenServer 6.0.0 Host Bus Adapter(HBA) as those provided on the SCO OpenServer 6.0.0 Maintenance Pack 3 CD #1.
A list of included Network card drivers for OpenServer is available via Technical Article (TA) 126923
and the Networking Supplement is available here. The same network drivers are available for UnixWare 7.1.4

The following HBA drivers are included with the supplement and in MP3 as well:

KDE Internationalisation Supplement for MP3 (osr600)

This supplement adds support for a wide variety of locales to KDE 3.5.6. The download is quite large (~345MB) and may take considerable time to install. Use the KDE Control Center to configure your locale.

VERITAS Online Disk Manager (ODM) for OpenServer 6.0.0

This Supplement product provides the Veritas Online Data Manager (ODM) for OpenServer 6.0.0. This product was previously provided on the OpenServer 6.0.0 Maintenance Pack 2 CD and is now available for download as a standalone supplement. Please carefully read the installation instructions. The product requires a license that is available via the SCO distribution channel.

Russian Language Supplement compatible with OpenServer 6 MP3

A new version of the russian language Supplement (RLS) will be available shortly for download. The Supplement requires MP3 with the updated KDE3.5.6 package to be installed first.
Note: KDE3.5.6 comes as part of the MP3 CD but is not installed by default with MP3.

OpenOffice 2.0.3 for OpenServer 6 with MP3

OpenOffice is an open source office suite compatible with all other major office suites. Installation of this package will allow native execution on OpenServer 6.  The OpenOffice 2.0.3 port for OpenServer 6 is provided at no cost for OpenServer customers and, as is standard with SCO Skunkware, OpenOffice is not a supported product. Customers should ensure that it meets their needs before deploying it in a production environment.

The Skunkware version of OpenOffice is available to download from the World Wide Web immediately and at no charge for current OpenServer 6 customers. OpenOffice along with its installation instructions can be found on the SCO FTP site as follows:
 
OpenOffice requires OpenServer 6 with Maintenance Pack 3 and requires the installation of KDE 3.5.6 and extshells which are included with MP3. All must be installed prior to installing the OpenOffice. 
Detailed installation instructions are included in the release notes which should be read before installing the software.

Ruby on Rails and related tools for OpenServer 6

Microlite Backup EDGE for OpenServer 6 with MP3
A new version of BackupEDGE is required on OpenServer 6 with MP3 installed.

OSS674A fixes a problem which causes some multiprocessor systems to hang during OS initialization if the boot processor is not listed first in the BIOS processor tables. This problem has been observed on some platforms configured with mixed processor steppings.
This supplement can be installed on the following SCO OpenServer releases:

UnixWare 7.1.4 Maintenance Pack 3 Samba Supplement

The UnixWare 7.1.4 Maintenance Pack 3 Samba Supplement is an optional update for your UnixWare 7.1.4 Maintenance Pack 3 system. Samba is a standardized technology used to support Microsoft file and print
sharing on UnixWare and many other platforms. In addition to enabling Windows/UNIX(R) resource sharing, Samba provides consistent user administration throughout the Microsoft/UNIX environment. When used in
concert with PAM and NSS, Samba also enables common cross-platform system authentication.
