SCO Office Mail Server Release 4.1 for SCO Openserver (R) -------------------------------------------------------- Core Features: SCO Office Mail installs a set of core dedicated services for the email and collaboration suite. In many cases these services will replace the ones normally found on the OpenServer system. The following are a list of these services. Apache Server * The SCO Office Apache server is specially compiled to run the binary SCO Office Management console and collaboration WebClient applications. By default this LDAP server replaces the one that runs on port 80. Cyrus IMAP Server * The Cyrus IMAP server is used to provide a reliable private message store for the system. Cyrus supports both IMAP and POP services. OpenLDAP Server * The SCO Office LDAP server is a specially modified LDAP server preconfigured with settings required for SCO Office. Postfix Server * The Postfix mail transport agent replaces MMDF or Sendmail on the system. * Postfix was designed from the ground up as a secure email transport service and provides improved security and easier configuration capabilities than sendmail or MMDF. Proftp Server * Proftp is a secure FTP server. It is used by SCO Office to allow the sharing of free-busy calendar information by collaboration users. Management Features: SCO Office console management functions add the ability to configure mail delivery and transfer via SCO's web-based interface. SCO Office Mail Server provides administrators with robust configuration options via a web console. The following summarizes these management features and their current development status: Hierarchical Organization Management * The ability to create and manage hierarchies of organizations, domains, groups, and resources Delegated Administration * The ability to manage domains and groups with special administrative accounts Alias Management * The ability to manage mailing lists Backup and Restore * The ability to backup and restore configuration information and mail folders. Categorized Statistics and Reporting * The ability to obtain meaningful reports on mail server usage statistics System Log Access * The ability to access system logs through the graphical user interface. Redundancy and high availability * The ability to have multiple servers accessed through a single point so that all servers appear within a single coherent name space. If one server goes down, the rest keep running. Server side filtering * Filtering of mail messages at the server side on mail delivery based on sets of rules applied by the end-user Queue management * Allows administrators to view, reprioritize or delete queued messages Data Migration * The ability to migrate users and data from UNIX (R) or Microsoft Exchange (R) mail servers Task Scheduling * The ability to schedule tasks for the mail server to perform at scheduled times Server Management * The ability to manage advanced parameters of the Mail Server including postfix, cyrus, proftpd, apache, and LDAP server parameters. Spam Prevention * The ability to filter email and identify it as Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE) so that the user can automatically process it for SPAM prevention. Also server features for capturing and rejecting SPAM before it is even delivered. Shared Folders * The ability to manage both user and shared email and collaboration folder types. includes the ability to set specific access controls and allow/restrict who can access folders. Edit Profile * The ability for users to change their passwords and contact information as well as to forward email. Vacation/Out of Office * The ability for users to set a vacation message to be sent automatically to those sending the users mail while they are out of the office. Client Configuration * The ability to automatically download configuration information and binary tools for the configuration of Microsoft Outlook (R) and Microsoft Outlook Express (R). WebClient Features: The SCO Office WebClient provides the ability to access and share email and collaboration content from a web browser. This includes the ability to share email, calendars, tasks, and address books with users of the SCO Office Mail Connector for Microsoft Outlook. Web Based Email: * The ability to send, receive, and reply to email messages through the browser. Also the integration of the commonly used Draft Messages, Outbox, and Sent Items folder features of email clients. Web Based Calendar: * Add and delete calendar events and send meeting requests Web Based Contacts: * Add and delete contacts and share them with other users. Web Based Tasks and Notes: * Add and delete tasks and notes and share them with others.
